RELIEF WORKS

Hope for the Reang tribe

Over 600 adults and children from the Reang tribe have been displaced from their homes due to a recent attack by the Mizo tribe. A refugee camp has been established in the North Tripura region but local missionaries have struggled to provide an aid for such a disaster. A Sathyam ministry relief team arrived on the field providing love buckets (filled with emergency relief items and Christian literature), which was a great consolation for the destitute living in these camps. Under the leadership of Sathyam seminary graduates, John and Mesaka, two schools and a vocational training centre has been opened in the region. The venture aims at educating the children and helping the men and women of Reang tribe learn a trade, so that they can financially support their families. Church planting activities are progressing here and the message of the gospel is being shared to all.

Flood Relief Works

The 28th of September 2009 shone a black day for the people residing in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa. The normal rain took a cruel face, and the torrential rainfall eventually led to a grave flood. Having killed approximately 280 people and leaving more than 10 million people without a roof over their head, depriving them of food and clothing, the Government described the disaster as the most awful in many decades in Southern India.

"It is a serious situation," the chief minister BS Yeddyurappa told reporters. "More than 300,000 people have taken refuge in about 1,000 relief camps set up by the government. But thousands are still living without shelter or electricity. Vast tracts of agricultural land are under water and crops have been destroyed. Thousands of livestock, which many farmers depend on to make a living have also corroded in the torrential rains that lashed the state for nearly a week." Whether experts indicate that the rains originated from a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. Health officials said measures were being taken to prevent the outbreak of water-borne diseases in the affected areas.

Our Sathyam Ministry relief team in Andhra Pradesh has been at the front lines to help these people recoup. They have distributed Love Buckets to the people, filling them with happiness and relief. The team also shared the word of God which soothed and comforted the victims and their families. Many are now completely looking to the Lord to send them help.

Tsunami Relief Operations

The whole world was shocked on December 26th, 2004 when the tsunami waves hit several Indian Ocean countries. In India, more than 70,000 people died and millions were injured. Thousands became homeless and jobless. Contagious diseases like cholera, plague and malaria spread through parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Our relief team rushed to these areas with food, medicines & clothes. Through charitable works we shared the love of God and proved that we were created by Jesus for good works (Eph 2:10).

Gujarat Earthquake Relief Operations

On January 26, 2001 a large earthquake struck Gujarat. Thousands of people lost their lives and many became crippled. CVV and a team of men from Sathyam Ministries responded by going to Gandhidam with clothes, medicines and wheelchairs.
